Jean-Pierre is a freelance theatre director and has worked extensively in the west-end, around the UK and internationally.
Jean-Pierre's latest credits include directing a production of Oliver! at the Orb Theatre in Tokyo, the production gained much critical acclaim and will also have a run in Osaka in Dec 2021. He also directed Miss Saigon for Cameron Mackintosh and VBW in Vienna at the Raimund Theatre, the production is due to open in January 2022 having had its opening delayed. Jean-Pierre is attached to Lady M a new musical that is currently in development with workshops currently underway. Earlier in 2021, the Les Mis Concert Jean-Pierre directed in 2019 was remounted at the Sondheim Theatre, it was one of the first major productions to reopen in the west-end after nearly a year of theatres being closed, the production was socially distanced and went ahead adapting to all COVID guidelines and miraculously not one single performance was cancelled! Jean-Pierre remains as the Associate Director on the west-end revival of Mary Poppins which received excellent reviews when it opened in November 2019.
In 2019 Jean-Pierre directed a production of Porgy and Bess for Grange Park Opera at West Horsely Place and co-directed Les Miserables in concert at the Gielgud Theatre starring Alfie Boe, Michael Ball, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Matt Lucas. Other recent projects include directing a workshop production of The Dreamers a new British musical written by James Beeny and Gina Giorgio, it was staged at Abbey Rd Studios in a first for the iconic venue.
Other directing credits include: Barnum starring Brian Conley (UK Tour); Oliver! for Grange Park Opera starring Simon Keenleyside; UK and International Tour of Miss Saigon based on Laurence Connor's London and Broadway Productions.
As Associate Director: Mary Poppins original Japanese Production; Half a Sixpence at CFT and the Noel Coward Theatre; Miss Saigon (Prince Edward Theatre & Imperial Theatre Tokyo); Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty's Theatre and the 25 Anniversary production at the Royal Albert Hall). Resident Director:Phantom of the Opera; Miss Saigon; Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre).
Jean-Pierre has been part of the Young Vic's Genesis Young Director's Programme, has directed and taught at leading drama schools and has directed many items for TV, including exerts for Britain's Got Talent, The Olivier Awards and the Royal Variety Show.
